The Impossible Game
Enjoy the sheer difficulty with The Impossible Game as it now arrives on your computer. This is one of the hardest platform games out there, but it loaded with exciting challenges.
Graphics — 4/5
One of the defining characteristics of The Impossible Game is its simplicity. Right from the graphics up, you will notice that the game doesn't carry any complicated designs or heavy animations that could disrupt your gaming experience. On the contrary, the game is ingeniously basic with simple shapes and limited animations. There are no background designs, landscape changes, or even enhancements of any kind. This makes it immensely popular among gamers looking for something less demanding.
Gameplay — 4/5
When you play The Impossible Game, expect to literally find completing it impossible. The game revolves around your reflexes and hand and eye coordination. You play an orange square that is making its way across a seemingly harmless world until you come up against a number of obstacles in the shape of triangles. Your objective is to avoid these spikes by jumping over them. Jump onto them and you will respawn at the beginning. Avoid all the spikes and complete the level to move on. There are also square blocks for you to jump onto to avoid falling into gaps or to evade the dangerous spikes. You can unlock medals along the way and gain Steam Achievements. There is also a Practice Mode to help you master levels by adding checkpoints. The Impossible Game has a total of 5 levels, each one more challenging than the next. And with the new PC version, you get a Level Editor where you can create your own levels and challenge yourself further.
Controls — 4/5
Being such a basic game, The Impossible Game has controls that match its design features. There is basically a single button control feature that helps you jump over spikes or onto blocks. Moving forward is automatic. You can customize the controls to your liking while playing on a keyboard. You can even use the mouse to control the jumps. Accessing the settings and other options is done with the help of the mouse.
Replay Value — 5/5
As described, The Impossible Game is severely challenging on every level. From the time you start the game, you are competing with yourself with every push of a button. Even though the game looks and feels extremely simplistic, the gameplay within is far from it. The game pushes you to concentrate on every obstacle as it approaches and builds your reflexes significantly. It draws you back again and again just so you can complete the levels.
Conclusion
While you might believe that The Impossible Game is no more than just another platform game, the challenges it puts forward completely proves otherwise. The game is designed for players that are looking to push themselves and challenge themselves to something exciting, fast-paced, and truly impossible to complete, or so it feels. The simplicity in the game and the basic looking graphics hide the brilliance that is The Impossible Game.
